Western Piano Course - 1 

Our Western Piano Course 1 offers a comprehensive and traditional approach to learning the piano. This course is dedicated to the study of Western classical piano music and Western music theory, providing students with a solid foundation in the "old school" method of piano instruction. 

  • Learning Western piano is a long-term commitment, typically requiring 2 to 5  years of consistent practice to achieve proficiency. This course is also ideal for students planning to pursue Grade Exams in the future. 

 

Syllabus Highlights

  • Introduction to Western Classical Music: Foundational history, theory, and stylistic periods. 

  • Staff Notation: You will learn to read and understand staff notation from the very beginning. 

  • Detailed Staff Reading Techniques: Methods for accurate and nuanced interpretation of musical notation, including minute rhythmic and dynamic markings. 

  • Western Piano Pieces: The curriculum progresses from basic piano pieces written in staff notation to more advanced works. 

  • Repertoire Study: Learning famous tunes and foundational works by great composers. 

  • Western Music Theory: We will introduce Western music theory concurrently with staff notation, ensuring a holistic understanding. 

  • Understanding Hindi songs in staff notation . 

  • Piano Exercises:   The course incorporates essential exercises, including Hanon piano exercises, to develop technique and dexterity. 

  • Bilateral Hand Coordination (From Lesson One): Immediate development of simultaneous, independent control over both hands. 

  • Scales and arpeggios: Focus on the most important scales and arpeggios; they are critical for attaining instrument mastery. 

  • Ear Training: Basic ear training, an integral component of musical development, is included to enhance your auditory skills. 

  • Time Signature Mastery: Comprehensive understanding and practical application of simple 6/8, 4/4 & 3/4 time signatures. 

  • Creative Arrangement and Embellishment: Techniques for augmenting existing repertoire through ornamentation, harmonic variation, and rhythmic modification to enhance musical creativity.

This course is open to everyone! Whether you are a complete beginner or have some prior experience with piano or keyboard, you are welcome to enroll. 

 

Course Structure and Requirements: 

This course is structured incrementally, with levels such as Western Piano - 1, Western Piano - 2, and so forth. Students must begin with Level 1 to ensure a proper foundational understanding. 

 

What You'll Need: 

  • One of the following instruments  

Acoustic piano , digital piano , A 5-octave keyboard with touch sense , MIDI keyboard with touch sense. 

  • The ability to view the provided PDF files on a separate device or as a printout.
